Located right in front of Copacabana Beach, this hotel offers stunning ocean views and top-notch facilities such as a spa, fitness center, and multiple restaurants. If you are looking for luxury, comfort, and style, Copacabana Palace is the best place to stay.
Copacabana Palace is, in my opinion, one of the most beautiful buildings in Copacabana and it is worth a visit, even if you decide not to stay there.

Hilton Copacabana
Another excellent option for luxury and comfort is the Hilton Copacabana. One of the best things about this hotel is the rooftop pool with a panoramic view of Copacabana Beach, besides all the other top-notch facilities the Hilton chain is known for such as incredible rooms, breakfast, and spa.
Hilton has the perfect location, only a few steps away from Copacabana Beach, which is why we recommend it as one of the best places to stay in Copacabana.
Hilton is located right on the border between Copacabana and Leme, which is my favorite area in the neighborhood as it is quieter than central Copacabana.

Rio Othon Palace
Rio Othon Palace is another incredible option for a 5-star hotel to stay in Copacabana.
This hotel offers stunning views of Copacabana beach and has a rooftop pool as well. It is located on the other side of the beach, so the rooftop gives you incredible views of Copacabana Beach and Sugar Loaf Mountain in the back.
The rooms are spacious and equipped with all the necessary amenities for a pleasant stay. Make sure you save some time for enjoying the rooftop pool area.

Emiliano Rio
For those looking for a more boutique and personalized experience, Emiliano Rio is the perfect hotel to stay in Copacabana.
Emiliano is one of the most modern hotels in Copacabana, you can easily spot its recognizable white windows when walking down the beach. One of the newest additions to the hotel scene in Copacabana is the Fairmont Rio de Janeiro. This luxurious 5-star hotel offers unparalleled views of Copacabana Beach with the Sugar Loaf Mountain rising in one end and the Copacabana Fort on the other.
My favorite thing about the Fairmont Rio Hotel is its location, almost at Arpoador. This hotel is so close to Ipanema, that you can easily explore both neighborhoods by foot, making it a much nicer experience to go out for dinner and dive into the South Zone of Rio.
Fairmont is a great option for a 5-star hotel to stay in Copacabana, especially if you value having a beachfront view from your room.
PS: This is the best hotel to stay in Rio during Carnival, in our opinion.

Pestana Rio Atlantica
For those looking for a more affordable option, Pestana Rio Atlantica is a great choice. Located right in front of Copacabana beach, this 4-star hotel offers comfortable rooms and a rooftop pool with ocean views.
The location is perfect for exploring Copacabana and its surrounding areas. You will have easy access to incredible restaurants and bars, and the subway station of Cantagalo which is located only a short walk away.
Another highlight of Pestana Rio Atlantica is its rooftop terrace, where guests can enjoy a drink while admiring the breathtaking views of Copacabana Beach. The rooftop is open also for non-guests so you can visit it even if you will be staying elsewhere.

Riale Vilamar Copacabana is another 4-star hotel but they offer more affordable options since they are lot located right at the beachfront. But that’s not to say you won’t have easy access to Copacabana Beach. This hotel is just two blocks away from the beach, so it will take you 5 minutes to the sand.
The location is ideal for those wanting to stay close to Copacabana beach but away from the busy bustling of Copacabana’s main avenue – Av. Atlantica.
Riale Vilamar also offers an excellent breakfast buffet, included in the price of your stay, and a rooftop pool.

CLH Suites Domingos Ferreira
Looking for more of a homestay feeling? CLH Suites may be the right fit for you!
Every room in CLH Suites offers a private bathroom and a desk, which makes it a great place to stay in Copacabana if you will be working remotely from Rio. There is even one fully equipped apartment available, which is perfect for 4-5 people.
This hotel is not located on the beachfront, but some rooms have a sea view. The price you pay is very reasonable for the location and the facilities, making it one of the best options for places to stay in Copacabana in my opinion.

Aquarela do Leme
For budget travelers, this is my favorite hostel in Copacabana (well, actually it is located in Leme but I count it altogether).
One of the best things about Aquarela do Leme is that it is located in a much quieter area of the neighborhood. Leme and Copacabana Beach are only a few minutes walk away and you won’t be bothered at night with too much noise from the street.
The highlight of this hostel is the vibe. They offer private and shared rooms and plenty of communal areas including a lovely rooftop. Aquarela do Leme is also a great place to stay in Copacabana for digital nomads because they have a coworking space and are very welcoming to this lifestyle.

Palace Hostel
Looking for a hostel experience in Copacabana? Palace Hostel may be the perfect fit for you!
This hostel is located right between Copacabana and Ipanema, which makes it a perfect place to stay and explore both neighborhoods. They have both private and shared rooms available, as well as mixed and female-only rooms.
Palace Hostel is located right by the subway station of General Osorio, but on a side street that is quite calm and safe. The atmosphere is great, not too social and party-oriented which is a nice balance for budget-travelers looking to relax.

Best areas to stay in Copacabana
Copacabana is a big neighborhood, so let me give you a quick guide on the best areas of Copacabana to stay.
By the beach
Staying on the beachfront of Copacabana is the utmost experience. It definitely comes at a cost since the beachfront is where the most prestigious and luxurious hotels are. But if you can afford it, there is no better place to be.
Close to Arpoador
The area located towards Arpoador is where the neighborhoods of Copacabana and Ipanema meet. This region is one of the best places to stay in Copacabana because you will have easy access to explore these two areas of the city on foot.
Leme
On the other extreme of the beach, Leme is also a great area to stay in Copacabana because it is much quieter than the central area. The streets are narrow and the atmosphere is quite different in Leme. In my opinion, it feels like an area more for locals than for tourists, as compared to other areas of Copacabana.
The downside about staying in Leme is that it is far from the subway (25 min walk to the closest subway station) so you will need to take an Uber or bus when coming with your luggage.
