MONTENEGRO TRAVEL GUIDE

Montenegro may be small in size, but it is incredibly diverse when it comes to landscapes.
From the Adriatic Sea to the Durmitor mountain range, you will see some of Europe’s most amazing views. We recommend starting off on the coast but save yourself some time on your itinerary for exploring the rest of the country as well.
See below our travel guides that will help you plan your journey exploring the best Montenegro has to offer.

Rent a car in Montenegro
We recommend renting a car if you want more freedom when defining your travel itinerary through Montenegro. If your license was not issued by a European country, then you may have to present your original license accompanied by an International Driving Permit. Keep in mind that many car rental companies may not request to see your International Permit, as it is the driver’s responsibility to ensure they are within the law. Travel insurance
When traveling to Montenegro from abroad, it is always important to have international travel insurance. To make sure you are covered in case something goes wrong, or if something happens while you will be hiking or swimming in the beautiful Montenegrin Sea, always double-check if your travel insurance covers all your needs. SafetyWing is the company we use to get our own travel insurance and the only one we can truly recommend.
Booking a flight to Montenegro
The biggest Montenegrin airport is Tivat Airport (TIV) located next to Kotor Bay, only a short drive from Tivat, Kotor, and Budva. We recommend flying to this airport if you will be staying at the seaside. If you wish to visit the Montenegrin capital and then continue your trip toward Albania, you can also fly to Podgorica Airport (TGD).
