Choosing between Kravice and Krka Waterfalls for a day trip
People traveling to Croatia and Bosnia are often faced with the tough decision of choosing between a visit to Kravice Waterfalls or Krka National Park. It takes only 2h from one park to the other, but combining both on the same day can get a bit too tiring, so the best thing to do is to choose the option that suits you the best.
To help you decide, we have put together this guide comparing Kravice vs Krka Waterfalls. We tried writing it in the most unbiased way possible, but we will share our personal preference in the end.

Kravice vs Krka Waterfalls: Which one is larger?
Krka National Park is definitely larger than Kravice Waterfalls. At Krka, besides the main fall, you have quite a large area to explore, which is one of the things we like the most about visiting this park. It really is worth spending a full day at Krka as you have a lot to see.
Once you go to Kravice Waterfalls, you will have the main fall area which is quite large and nice. Besides this part, there is a second waterfall called Mala Kravice (which stands for Small Kravice) but it is significantly smaller and not so interesting. The highlight of visiting Kravice is definitely the main waterfall.

Kravice vs Krka Waterfalls: Which one is better for swimming?
If swimming in the waterfall is something you want to do, then the best place to go is the Kravice Waterfall. At Kravice, there is a large pool where you are allowed to swim, right under the main waterfall. It is not possible to come up to the waterfall itself as they have protection lines set up, but there is plenty of space to have a good time in the water.
Unfortunately, it is not possible to swim at the main waterfall in Krka National Park. It used to be allowed, but it was forbidden a few years ago. There are still places where you can swim in the park, but they are smaller and secondary locations.

Kravice vs Krka Waterfalls: Which one is more crowded?
This is where the comparison between Kravice and Krka Waterfalls starts getting tricky because it depends a lot on the time and day you decide to visit each park.
Let me start by making one thing clear: During the high season, especially in July and August, both Kravice and Krka Waterfalls will most likely be very crowded.
Now, we particularly think that the Krka National Park seemed a bit busier than Kravice when we visited. Maybe the reason why we got that feeling is that since swimming in Krka is no longer allowed, people accumulate in the small wooden pathway.
In comparison, in Kravice Waterfalls, people are spread out everywhere so it seems a bit less crowded.
Whichever option you choose, if you want to avoid crowds, the best thing to do is to get to the park as early as possible.

Final comparison: So which one is better between Kravice and Krka Waterfalls?
Both Kravice and Krka Waterfalls have advantages and disadvantages to them. This is what we recommend:
- Choose Kravice Waterfalls if you really want to go swimming in the fall and if you would like to make an epic day trip by combining it with a visit to Mostar
- Choose Krka National Park if you want to visit a large park to see not only the main waterfall but also other interesting spots such as the second-oldest hydroelectric power plant.

Krka National Park is very easily accessible from many coastal towns in Croatia, such as Split. We recommend spending most of the day exploring the park itself, which is quite large.
